It proved a special occasion when Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School from Liverpool hosted the PlayStation Schools’ Cup U-13 Boys’ quarter final game.
Providing the perfect inspiration ahead of their fixture, two of the school’s players were given a special pass to visit Melwood, the home to Liverpool FC’s impressive training ground, where they were greeted by Jordan Henderson. Later that afternoon the Liverpool midfielder visited the school to lend his support for a short Q&A with a group of media students who asked him a range of questions about his training regime, career highlights and tips for sporting success.
As the sun sparkled over Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School, Jordan spent time joining in with the warm up session with the home side, before being held to a 2-2 draw when challenging one of the pupils to a contest on the FIFA 14 PlayStation 4 game.
The Liverpool star is enjoying the form of his life for both club and country, which is further reflected by him collecting the recent Liverpool FC ‘Goal of the Month’.
The Henderson stardust certainly rubbed off, as Cardinal Heenan Catholic High School celebrated a 4-0 victory against local opposition Maghull Maricourt High School and they can now look forward to taking part in this season’s U-13 Boys’ PlayStation Schools’ Cup semi-final.
A big thanks to Cardinal High School, Jordan Henderson, Liverpool FC and the English Schools’ FA for making this a great day to support grassroots schools’ football.
