Southampton star and current England Under 21 captain James Ward-Prowse took time out to go back to school as he visited pupils at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill in support of the English Schools’ FA (ESFA) PlayStation Schools’ Cup.
Now in its fourth season, the ESFA PlayStation Schools’ Cup is the biggest schools’ football tournament in England, featuring over 150,000 competing children since 2013.
It has been another stellar season for both Southampton and James who continued his fine form by taking part in a number of activities with the school’s pupils. This included playing FIFA 17, picture and signing sessions and supporting a Q&A in the school’s Lecture Theatre. Among the answers, James announced Victor Moses of Chelsea as the Premier League player that has impressed him most this season.
James met both teams prior to a Year 8 football fixture between Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill and their local opposition Oasis Academy Mayfield as well as taking on grassroots show Sky Sports Game Changers’ challenge – Trick, Question, Tip with a number of local pupils who will feature on national TV. There was also the opportunity of a lifetime for pupils Branden Lane and Bethanie Morse who were picked to interview James Ward-Prowse for CBBC Match of the Day Kickabout.
James Ward-Prowse wasn’t the only well-renowned face at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill as YouTuber RossiHD made an appearance and supported by James Ward-Prowse re-created a real life footballing challenge. Stay tuned to RossiHD channel to see how this played out: https://www.youtube.com/user/RossiHD
Away from James’ exciting appearance, well-performing pupils were rewarded with a PlayStation Matchday Hub being set up in their Sports Hall – with 16 PlayStation 4 consoles showcasing the latest titles. PE lessons also got a brand-new look with two football coaches putting on some fun sessions for pupils all the way from Year 7 to Year 11.
