Home General News Callum Wilson scores high for PlayStation Schools’ Cup

Callum Wilson is renowned as one of the leading strikers in the Premier League. It was therefore no surprise, that the AFC Bournemouth and England star proved a massive hit with the pupils when he visited Ringwood School in support of the PlayStation Schools’ Cup.

The day began with Callum Wilson being quizzed by six pupils, with their interview being filmed for Sky Sports Game Changers. Next up, starring in front of the camera were pupils Isaac Churchill (Year 7) and Winnie Hiriart (Year 8), who hosted an interview for CBBC Match of the Day Kick About.

Callum then made his way to the school’s Assembly Hall, which was packed with over 100 pupils, as they excitedly awaited the arrival of their AFC Bournemouth hero. Callum Wilson’s pupil Q&A session revealed his favourite goal of all-time is when he scored against West Ham this season. Callum also explained teammate Josh King is the master of the nutmegs during Bournemouth training sessions, whilst he it’s too close to call whether he or Josh King would win in a 100m race. Callum went on to talk about his memories of his England debut, when he scored a goal at Wembley during the game against the USA.

Adding to the occasion, Callum Wilson took time to meet the school football teams prior to kick-off, with Ringwood School organising specially arranged Boys fixture against Burgate school and a separate fixture against Bournemouth School Girls (BSG).

Immediately after the meeting the young footballers, Callum Wilson put his PS4 skills to the test when he faced a pupil for a contest on FIFA 19. The cheering crowd of pupils that were watching on were rewarded with the opportunity of a selfie alongside the popular star guest.
