Declan Rice, an U12 PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup finalist, has been playing competitive football from a young age, having joined Chelsea’s academy in 2006 when he was 7 before moving to West Ham United when he was 14.

Since joining West Ham, Declan has been on a fast track to the top of the game; the tall, strong and versatile footballer is comfortable playing as a centre-back or defensive midfielder. He captained the Hammers at U16, U18 and U23 level before making his first-team debut in a Premier League win at Burnley in the final game of the 2016/17 season.

Since making his debut for West Ham his career highlights include:

  • Winning his first Premier League Man of the Match award against Tottenham Hotspur
  • Becoming the first teenager to make 50 West Ham first team appearances since Michael Carrick
  • Receiving his first England call-up in March for the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro
  • Signing a long-term contract that will keep him at West Ham until 2024.

With all this and so much more to come, the future looks exciting for the 20-year-old as he chases club and international glory. This year Declan has partnered with fellow England international, Georgia Stanway, to uncover Next Level talent through the PlayStation F.C. Schools’ Cup.
